We're a small, volunteer-run sewer district committed to reliable service and honest communication. A new treatment plant is on the way — and we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
Our existing treatment infrastructure has reached the end of its useful life. With funding secured through Indiana's State Revolving Fund (SRF), we're replacing it with a modern modular Aeromod system built specifically for communities our size.
The new plant will handle 14,000 gallons per day — right-sized for Helmsburg today, with a clear path to serve Bean Blossom and Lake Lemon area residents in the future.
We'll post updates here as construction progresses. No fluff — just the facts on where things stand.
May 20th at 5:30 pm at the Brown County Community Church, we will have the second reading of our rate ordinance.
A pre-bid meeting is happening May 6th at 3pm at the Brown County Community Church.
The State Revolving Fund grant has been finalized. We're working through the final pre-construction steps and will post a groundbreaking date here as soon as it's confirmed.
After careful review, we updated our design from a 100,000 gallon/day plant to a 14,000 gallon/day modular Aeromod system — a better fit for our community's actual size and long-term growth plans.
All board meetings are open to the public. Check below for upcoming meeting dates, public hearings, and project milestones.
Meetings are typically held at the Brown County Community Church.
We currently accept ACH transfers and checks by mail. Online payments are in the works — we'll update this page as soon as that's available.
HRSD is entirely volunteer-run. We're Helmsburg residents who care about getting this right. Have a question about your bill, service, or the plant project? Don't hesitate to reach out.
